"Piehole" in Midwestern means "mouth," as in "Shut your piehole." Preferably we shut it on some tasty home cooking. We love to grow, market, buy, cook, bake and grill so we can feed our faces, chow down, pig out, scarf & whatnot. I'm a born Midwestern home cook posting foods and recipes that show up in front of me, because like all Midwesterners I eat what's put in front of me. Pull up a chair. What can I get you?

Summer on the Counter

Fresh-picked arugula, fresh-made pesto with olive oil and a touch of lemon juice, cheese sauce, fabulous heirloom tomato. Smells as good as it looks. It will taste even better.

  1. OK, the food I get easily, and love it as much as you do. But that strainer!! Absolutely fabulous. What's its story?

  2. The brand is "Chefmate" and it's stainless steel; that's a must. Plastic or aluminum strainers don't last. I like the handle on this one; it won't peel, discolor or wear out. I don't recall where I purchased it. Check online to see who carries Chefmate utensils.
